SME Business Helpline (042-111-763-111) : NBDP SME Business Helpline (042-111-763-111) provides assistance / information to SMEs regarding Business Start-ups (Business Plan & Feasibility Study), Business Registration Process, Federal & Provincial Business Licenses, Income Tax & Sales Tax issues and Import / Export related matters. During the reporting quarter NBDP helpline experts facilitated one thousand five hundred fifty-nine (1,559) SMEs on above mentioned areas. For promotion of the NBDP SME Business Helpline and increased outreach of the aforesaid initiative regular social media promotional campaigns were launched throughout the reporting quarter.
SMEDA One Window (SOW): For encouragement of new business start-ups, entrepreneurs and potential SMEs SMEDA One Window (SOW) operating since second quarter of previous FY -(2021-2022). SMEDA One Window (SOW) aims to provide business start-up solutions through a single platform. SOW provides hassle-free, on-demand services from business idea validation to business registration so as to enable SMEs to fully focus on their business operations. SOW will act as a single window solution for aspiring start-ups and SMEs in order to establish and streamline their business operations in Pakistan. Under SOW initiative, SMEDA has provided business start-up services to thirty-six (36) SMEs till now.
Advice & Information Services : (Addressing SMEs Challenges) NBDP SME Business Helpline (042-111-763-111) provides assistance / information to SMEs regarding Business Start-ups (Business Plan & Feasibility Study), Business Registration Process, Federal & Provincial Business Licenses, Income Tax & Sales Tax issues and Import / Export related matters. During the reporting quarter NBDP helpline experts facilitated one thousand five hundred fifty-nine (1,559) SMEs on above mentioned areas. NBDP Training Support Program: (SMEs capacity building) During the reporting period, FY 2022-23, NBDP-SMEDA conducted fifty-two (52) training programs benefiting two thousand two hundred and eighteen (2,218) SMEs / potential entrepreneurs & their relevant staff across Pakistan including Federal Capital, AJK & GB. The major training types included In-House and Outsourced Theme Specific, Sector-Specific and Youth Entrepreneurship Training Programs.
Sector Specific Training Programs: These training programs for SMEs are delivered by professional training service provider firms prequalified through a competitive process in the particular sectors including: Engineering & Manufacturing, Food Processing & Beverages, Transport & Logistics, Tourism, Travel Services, Hotel Restaurants & Cafes (HoReCa) and Chemicals Production / Trade / Distribution.
Theme Specific Training Programs: These training programs for SMEs are delivered by professional training service provider firms prequalified through a competitive process. The training topics included Human Resource Management for SMEs, Sales Force Management for SMEs, Financial Management and Record Keeping for SMEs, Cost Management for SMEs, Product Development and Branding Techniques, Tax Management and E-filling for SMEs, and Business E-enablement and Effective Digital Marketing (E-Commerce).
BDSP Strengthening & Networking: During the reported period NBDP has conducted four (04) days Training of Trainers (TOT) programs on “Sales Force Management for SMEs” in Lahore, Karachi & Islamabad and benefited the 116 BDSPs in these sessions. The objective of this program is to build capacity of private sector BDSPs to enhance their usability for quality service provision to SMEs sectors.
Growth Stage Start-up Grant(Round – II): The Growth Stage Start-up grant is aimed at providing financial support to the entrepreneurs to meet the capital and / or operating needs of their businesses.The individuals successfully completing the mandatory entrepreneurship development program will be provided growth stage startup grant in order to facilitate business initiation. In growth stage start up grant, 11 applicants of previous FY completed procurement this year and received grants. In FY (2022-23), 819 applications have been received until now, among which 49 LOl’s were issued, 29 procurements has been completed, 4 disbursements have been made and remaining are in process.
New Initiative: Ecommerce Training and Incubation Support to Potential / Existing SMEs The Growth Stage Start-up grant is aimed at providing financial SMEDA under its National Business Development Program for SMEs (NBDP) for the encouragement and promotion of Ecommerce Business Startups, and to link SMEs with local and international markets have introduced E-Commerce awareness, training & incubation support activities by engaging the relevant Business Development Service Providers (BDSPs) through a competitive process. Awareness, training and incubation support program on ecommerce, aims to build the capacity of the SMEs for implementing ecommerce solutions and will also provide an overall road map to start and grow business on ecommerce platforms, and connect & explore online marketplaces. In FY (2022-23), NBDP conducted fifty-eight (58) training programs benefiting three thousand two hundred and thirty one (3,231) participants.Awareness, training and incubation support program on ecommerce, aims to build the capacity of the SMEs for implementing ecommerce solutions and will also provide an overall road map to start and grow business on ecommerce platforms, and connect & explore online marketplaces.
